India Evaluation Case Competition Jury Members
For the India Evaluation Case Competition, contesting teams will prepare their submission based on the provided case with the required components. To judge the best submissions, a panel of jury will be assembled by inviting professionals and academicians in the field of M&E. The jury members will use predefined criteria to judge each submission and provide feedback to the teams.
Ms. Akanksha Laroiya
Ms. Akanksha Laroiya is a Regional Planner by profession. Her current role in the CITIIS Program Management Unit at the National Institute of Urban Affairs, New Delhi, is to lead the Monitoring and Evaluation Component of the Program. In addition, she is responsible for supporting overall operations; conducting technical research; coordinating with stakeholders; and assisting in daily tasks regarding program implementation. Previously, she was associated with the Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi, where her key responsibilities included data collection; performing spatial and statistical analyses and conducting research on ‘Sustainable Development’ and its varied aspects. She has co-authored a book titled, Cities and the Sustainable Development Goal 11. Furthermore, she was involved in the preparation of Integrated Cluster Action Plans under Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission for five clusters in Rajasthan. She has done her Master of Planning (with a specialisation in Regional Planning) with a Gold Medal and Bachelor of Physical Planning with a General Proficiency Prize, from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.
Dr. Archna Kumar
Dr. Archna Kumar is a professor in the Department of Development Communication & Extension at Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi and has been involved in teaching and guiding masters and doctoral researches in the department for nearly 30 years. She teaches papers in Communication for Social Change, Gender, Participatory Development, Behaviour Change Theories, Research Methods and Programme Evaluation. She has several publications in national and international journals; book chapters and has edited a book. In the recent past she has been involved in projects related to the use of innovative participatory techniques for M&E of ICTs and Community Radio initiatives. Currently she is also coordinates the Centre for Social and Behaviour Change of the college
She has been a consultant with UNICEF and a master trainer for The Most Significant Change technique for the Monitoring and Evaluation of Behaviour Change Communication programme;
She has served as Technical Advisor (External) by UNICEF for several national level Evaluations; Project Coordinator for Community Radio and Hill Women’s Participation in Health Communication’ Grant received by International Federation of Home Economics; Delhi State Evaluation of ASHAs under the NRHM scheme. project of the NHSRC, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI; North Zone coordinator for project Capacity Building of Stakeholders about Food and Drug Safety, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI. She has recently served as a consultant providing inputs in the qualitative evaluation of impact of flood on lives of people in Kerala.
She has been invited to serve on various academic and professional bodies to include Doctoral Advisory Committee School of Journalism and Media IGNOU & Dept of Community Resource Management & Extension Jammu University. She serves on the boards of GRAVIS a mother NGO in Jodhpur Rajasthan; Mobile Crèches Delhi and is advisor to Community Radio Henvalvani, Uttrakahnd. She is a member of the International Communication association; International Association of Media and Communication Research; Member International Society for Third Sector Research; Member International Federation of Home Economics, the Evaluation Community of India amongst other bodies.
Dr. Ami Divatia
Divatia Ami is a doctorate in Resource Management from M. S. University of Baroda in the year 2002. She has a vast experience of academia in the field of Research Methodology for over 25 years at many reputed colleges of Ahmedabad. There are three books and few articles in national and
international journals on her name. She has also developed a case for The Case Center during 2008-9. Dr. Divatia has presented papers at various international seminars held at India, Hong Kong, Thailand and Spain. Dr. Divatia is currently guiding students of Masters level at couple of faculties and is also on the panel for Ph.D. viva. She is a founder of a data consultancy firm wherein, she has consulted variety of research projects analyzing the data and drawing inferences. Dr. Divatia is member of Ethics Committee of three different hospitals also.
Mr. BANDA V L N RAO
Mr. Banda Rao obtained a Master’s degree in Mathematics with Statistics as a specialization and followed it with an advanced course in Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He became a member of Indian Statistical Service of Government of India and held various appointments, before he retired in 1995 as Deputy Adviser (Labour, Employment and Manpower) in the then Planning Commission. He has several years of experience in organizing large scale sample surveys, monitoring and appraising developmental programmes. Post retirement Rao has been pursuing his professional activities as a consultant in monitoring and evaluation. He is a member of Evaluation Community of India. He also had two stints with International Labour Organization (ILO) as consultant.
Dr. Prabhu Ponnusamy, Ph.D. CEO - Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Prabhu has over 19 years of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation and large-scale health survey expertise. He is a doctorate in Demography/Population Science from The Gandhigram Rural Institute (Deemed University). He has conceptualized, designed, developed, managed and implemented the M&E in diverse projects. He has developed and implemented databases to track the flow of information within complex, multi-layered, geographically dispersed projects, placing a specific emphasis on data quality. Established and designed the conceptual workflow for Monitoring Information System (MIS), and customized various data capture and reporting tools such as (CSPro,ODK, Dobblo ,SurveyCTO google forms etc.,). Conducted several training workshops on data capture and reporting tools such as (CSPro, ODK, etc.,) and use of Quantitative software’s such as SPSS, STATA etc.,. He has also extensively worked in various large-scale demographic, health surveys in India (DLHS, NFHS etc.). Prior to this, he has been associated with Mamta-HIMC,PSI, UN Agencies, IIPS & Population Research Centre, Gandhigram.
Mr. Vivek Khanna
Vivek Khanna, is a development sector evaluation professional with close to 19 years of experience. He has spent significant amount of time working with organizations of the likes of Nielsen, GfK, Kantar and Sambodhi managing project supported by some of the largest donors such as The World Bank, UN agencies, ADB as well as private foundations such as The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundations. Vivek has also spent a good amount of time (with MicroSave Consulting) managing some of the most innovative as well as high-end projects on financial services for the poor, not just in India but also in countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Qatar, Kenya and Uganda. His expertise lies in designing and execution of end to end research and evaluation projects. In addition to financial inclusion, his domains of experience include livelihood, rural economy, gender and various components of health. Vivek holds a master degree in Economics from Banaras Hindu University and has also been a part of the 2016 cohort of Evidence in Policy Design at the Harvard Kennedy School, Boston.
